Warm Weather Activities in Toronto

Although the snowy streets in winter make for some romantic views, there are some things you just have to do in Toronto before it gets too cold! Already too chilly out? Check out my post on cold weather activities in Toronto!

Here’s a list of my favourite things to do in Toronto while the weather is still warmer:

ROM: Friday Night Live

This event has become one of the most popular nighttime events in Toronto. Every Friday night from September 30 to November 25, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) offers food, drinks, live music and a beautifully lit space to explore history. You can dance, check out the exhibits, enjoy one of many themed parties. A perfect night out.

AGO: First Thursdays

Once a month, the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) stays open late to invite in the community to experience a wide variety of programming. Although this is generally year-round, it’s always nice to not have to bother with coat-check. Performance artists, live music, drinks, discussion panels and interactive elements are spread over its many floors. You can wander this beautiful architecture and soak up some culture, then grab a drink and talk the night away.

Ripley’s Aquarium: Friday Night Jazz

Offered on the second Friday of each month, Ripley’s Aquarium lets you get fancy and wander amongst the fish with a glass of wine, while listening to a live jazz band. This is the perfect relaxing under-the-sea date night.

Toronto Island

Hop on a ferry and head over to the islands! If the weather is particularly good, bring your swimsuit and take a dip in Lake Ontario, or just wander around with an ice cream. You’ll see stunning views of the Toronto city skyline, especially if you pack a picnic and stay later into the evening.

Cirque du Soleil

Although this event is also seasonal, Cirque du Soleil is always a fun night out. This spectacle will wow you and generally runs from the end of July until mid-October.

The Brickworks Market

Fancy a day-time walk through the Don Valley trails? You should make The Brickworks your destination. This farmers and artisan market is quaint and beautifully located. There are many very interesting innovations to see, as well as a beautiful landscape which you can wander hand-in-hand. If you don’t feel like walking, you can always take the bus from Davisville station, or from Leaside at Davisville and Bayview if you’re coming from Glendon.

Harbourfront Walks

Walking along the lakefront on a sunny day has got to be one of my favourite spots. Read a book by the water, see some wonderful street performers and soak up the sound of the waves! If you have a chance, also check out the Harbourfront Centre to see what events and markets are on.

KEEP IN MIND FOR NEXT YEAR…

The CNE

This seasonal event is the perfect place to spend a warm summer’s night. It offers stunning views of the city and some amazing warehouse sales to hit up before the academic year starts. Try out some midway rides, experiment with food, and check out some wonderful shows (like my personal favourite, the dog show). There are also nightly concerts included in admission!
The Ex runs from the end of August into early September each year.

Casa Loma

Casa Loma offers various special events throughout the year, but from late spring to late summer try to go to anything in the gardens, like their Soul in the City or Symphony in the Garden series. Keep an eye on their website for details. Casa Loma is beautiful during the day and well worth a visit anyways, but there’s nothing like an orchestra and a castle to create an evening to remember. This one tends to be a bit more expensive.
